Front Entry

This is a great space, and one of the convincing factors in our buying the house in the first place.  While open to the adjoining spaces on two sides, it still acts like a separate-enough room that you don't feel as though you're walking directly into your living room from the porch.

Most of the homes we looked at lacked any kind of a foyer, and I in particular really value this transitional space between indoors and out.   Regardless of how you say it (foi-yay or foi-yer) this place with room for shoes, coats, dog leashes and the like is especially useful if you don't live where it is 75 degrees F year 'round.  Ours also has the charming features of a manual door bell and an in-wall mail shoot.

While it is only 49 square feet, this little piece turned out to be one of the most difficult areas to find/secure/decide on flooring for!

  • Make a wall-mounted coat rack solution
  • Create some kind of a shoe storage solution
  • Replace old linoleum floor with tile

  • Trim around 'archway' openings
  • Create a rotating art display space
  • Replace light
  • Add a window into our existing wood door

    • Fix screen door
